COCONUTS in Cheltenham
not for very many people

Kid Creole and the Coconuts picture

On 21st April 1998 I went to see KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS who were performing at Cheltenham's Town Hall.

This concert was a bit odd for two reasons, firstly there weren't that many people there (about 250), and secondly it was one of those concerts where you realised you knew more of the songs than you remembered.

Tracks performed included "MY MALE CURIOSITY", "STOOL PIDGEON", "ANNIE, I'M NOT YOUR DADDY", "ME NO POP I", and "DON'T TAKE AWAY MY COCONUTS".

Only two of the original line-up remain (AUGUST DARNELL and ANDY HERNANDEZ) but that does not matter because they sounded just as good as ever.

The band could see that the audience were enjoying themselves as they performed a 40 minute encore.
